Tomorrow, Friday 29 March 2019, Democratic Alliance (DA) Leader, Mmusi Maimane, will lead thousands of South Africans on a National Day of Action protest outside the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
South Africa is amid a national energy crisis brought about by the failing ANCs refusal to reform our energy sector. While South Africans have experienced a temporary, short-term “breather” from rolling power, this is by no means a sign that all is well, and that the structural problems have been solved. The ANC national government has chosen to burn billions of rands of diesel in a desperate attempt to keep the lights on until election day, while stubbornly refusing to fix the fundamental problems at Eskom and in our energy sector.
Our message is clear: we need immediate action to reform our energy sector before it’s too late.
We will be holding several protests in every province across the country, and we call on all South Africans to join us in protest of what is a national crisis. The time is now – we will not sit back and watch our country implode at the hands of this failing ANC government.
Maimane will be joined by DA Gauteng Premier Candidate, Solly Msimanga, DA Gauteng Leader, John Moodey, Team One SA Spokesperson on State Capture, Natasha Mazzone, Team One SA Spokesperson on Corruption, Phumzile Van Damme, and Team One SA Spokesperson on Basic Services, Makashule Gana.
