Today, Monday 11 February 2019 , the Democratic Alliance (DA) Limpopo Premier Candidate, Jacques Smalle will file a complaint with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) for the alleged police brutality by Mable Hall Police Officers after our DA Councillor and activists in Mable Hall were assaulted and wrongfully arrested for fraud on Wednesday afternoon.
It is alleged that the police ill-treated and harassed them before making a wrongful arrest and then they were kept in custody for a night.
After this callous arrest, they went back and intimidated their children and searched their houses without any search warrant.
Our DA Cllr and activists were released yesterday due to a lack of evidence but they are still traumatised by the whole cruel episode.
The DA believes that the SAPS’ behaviour in this matter was totally unacceptable and the matter must be investigated as a matter of urgency.
SAPS is supposed to help and protect community members but in this instance, they seem to have betrayed the community’s faith in them.
The Premier Candidate will be accompanied by the DA Councillors and activists.
Part of building One South Africa for All means ensuring that we have an honest and professional police service that keeps the people safe and restores order in our communities.
The details are as follows:
Date: Monday, 11 February 2019
Venue: 78 Hans Van Rensburg Street, Polokwane.
