Two women were killed and eight passengers injured after a taxi crashed on the N1.
ER24’s Russel Meiring said the incident happened on the north-bound between Allendale and New Road in Midrand.
“ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its side down a small embankment.
Several people were found lying scattered around the scene,” Meiring said.
Meiring said an inspection by paramedics revealed bodies of two women lying near the taxi.
“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead.
Eight other people were assessed on the scene. All eight people had sustained moderate to serious injuries,” he said.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
“Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” Meiring said.
