ANCYL’s Selane to fight suspension after VBS scandal

The ANCYL says Selane failed to provide evidence that the items he bought were financed by a commercial bank.
Suspended Limpopo African National Congress Youth League secretary, Che Selane, will challenge his suspension over alleged VBS benefits in the High Court in Polokwane on Tuesday.

Selane was suspended by the league’s Provincial Executive Committee two weeks ago following allegations that he benefited from the looting of the VBS Mutual Bank. It is alleged that Selane bought a vehicle and a house through the proceeds of VBS.

Though Selane has denied this, the youth league says Selane failed to provide evidence that both items were financed by a commercial bank.

Selane has argued that the PEC has no authority to suspend him, stating that that authority only lies with the league’s NEC.
