COPS in Lephalale have launched a massive manhunt for an awaiting trial prisoner who escaped last night in Lephalale Police Station.

Police spokesperson Lt. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the 27-year-old fugitive Petrus Moyo was arrested for killing Dr Werner Emslie and injuring his wife who is also a doctor during a farm attack in September 2017.

Ngoepe said 55-year-old, Dr Werner Emslie was sitting outside the house on his farm at Afguns outside Lephalale when four unknown men, two armed with pistols, attacked and shot him to death and further shot his 55-year-old wife who is also a Doctor.

She survived the attack with serious injuries.

During this incident, the suspects took two hand guns and drove away with Dr Emslie’s white Toyota double cub bakkie.

The vehicle was later found abandoned a distance away from this house.

Moyo, a Zimbabwean national was charged with murder, house breaking, theft and Illegally entering South Africa.
